I checked the Profoss website today. Their objective is to spread objective information about the possibility to use professional solutions based on alternatives to proprietary and closed products.
Nothing wrong but that, but... how can I take Profoss serious when seeing a huge Microsoft logo in the section "sponsors"?
Here is why:
- sponsors have no influence at all on the program
- talks are chosen based on their quality and relevance
- more than 90% of participants have praised the quality of information brought during the conferences organised until now
- we're not religious or sectarian: we don't want to convince anyone, we just want to inform so that people can make informed decisions
- We don't compromise on our independence
Having Microsoft sponsoring doesn't mean they took control of Profoss. I am rather amused to see Microsoft money being spent on Free and Open Source promotion.

I don't understand the problem. Perhaps you are reading too much into the concept of "corporate sponsorship". Allow me to explain: company hands money to conference organizers. Conference organizers place sponsor's logo on website.
Perhaps you are imagining endorsements either of Microsoft or of Profoss?
Don't think too hard.
