As some of you already know, I'm looking for a new job. Are you or your company looking for a linux sysadmin? Do you need a new, driven, creative colleague? Feel free to send me a message (even if it's just a link to the jobs page of your company).
SInce yesterday evening, the house we currently live in, is for sale.
If you (or someone you know), is looking for a house in Tienen (Leuven area), feel free to contact me, and I'll give you more info.

I recently got hold of an Asus EEE 900, and quickly installed the Ubuntu Netbook Remix on it. I was pretty happy with the working-speed of the system, but the bootup-time was a real turnoff, as it was close to 2 minutes. After consulting my good friend Google, I made a few changes:
1. In /etc/event.d I deleted tty3, tty4, tty5 and tty6, as I don't need 7 tty's on this machine.
2. In /etc/rcS.d I disabled pcmciautils, checkroot, brltty, checkfs, waitnfs, mountnfs-bootclean and pppd-dns (just rename the Snn-files to Knn)
3. In /etc/rc2.d (in Ubuntu 2 is the default runlevel) I disabled powernowd.early, cupsys, powernowd and bluetooth (just rename the Snn-files to Knn)
4. I profiled my boot (add profile once to the grub boot parameters).
The result? Boot-time is now close to 30 seconds. A very nice result, but I'm still looking at improving this. So, if any of you have some useful hints, just comment on this post.
Heard on Radio 1 yesterday:
"Yves Leterme thought she (Inge Vervotte) was a political talent. If you look at the number of votes she got in the last federal elections, he was proven right."
So dear mister journalist (sorry, I forgot your name), political talent is measured by the number of votes now?
I received this mail today:
Dear Martijn,
Congratulations, you've recently registered to be part of the Beta programme of the TomTom Online Route Planner and now have been granted access to it.
Obviously, I'll test it, and test it again. Feedback will follow.
... or in English: Save "De Morgen". Indeed, a lot of fuss the last couple of days (including some Facebook groups). And no, I will not join these groups, and, I for one do not care whether "De Morgen" will disappear or not.
Offcourse, I sympathize with the people being fired. Offcourse I disrespect the CEO's and CCM's (Chief Capitalist Morons) that lead these companies, but I will never ever join a group to save "De Morgen" or whatever other company. This is just another consequence of society turning towards an extreme form of capitalism over the last decades ("Staff" became "Human Resources", to eventually become "Human Capital"), and as such is nothing more than logical in times of economic recession.
You, the society, wanted capitalism? You got it. Now don't start crying over a few lost jobs!
I had a quick look at Crunchbang Linux today. I'll need to dig deeper into it. But I'm impressed! Keep up the good work!
I checked the Profoss website today. Their objective is to spread objective information about the possibility to use professional solutions based on alternatives to proprietary and closed products.
Nothing wrong but that, but... how can I take Profoss serious when seeing a huge Microsoft logo in the section "sponsors"?
